LILLIAN AND OLIVIA ARE 2 YEARS OLD!

On December 27, 2009, The Things turned 2 years old.
We spent their "happy day" driving home from New Hampshire and have not yet had cake to celebrate properly. When we do, we will post more pictures (and pictures of our amazingly fun Christmas-time with Aunt Melissa, Uncle Mike, Cousin Simone, Mormor and Grandpa Greg).
Stay tuned...

Dear Santa,
We are writing a day early because we are heading up north to New Hampshire. We will leave cookies and milk out for you when we get to Cousin Simone's house. We KNOW she's been a good girl this year so you must already know her address. We want you to know we've been good girls all year long. Sure we have had our naughty moments but, for the most part, we've been nice!
We have been trying hard not to fight as much. Yes, sometimes we push, bite and yell at each other. But, we are really working on teamwork. Look, we worked together to help Daddy string up our Christmas lights.

We've also been working on listening to Mommy and Daddy. Sometimes we don't like to listen to what they tell us, but usually it's just us testing them. We promise we'll ease up on them and try to do what they tell us when they tell us to do it. See, here we are following directions on how to decorate our Christmas Tree.

Lastly, we are working on our tantrums. Screaming, crying, kicking, hitting, and throwing ourselves to the ground are a thing of the past. From now on, we will try to behave like nice little girls. Sorry for the big freak out when we came to visit you a few weeks ago at the Staten Island Mall. We were super excited to see you and waited patiently in line for almost an hour. However, the minute our turn came, we lost it. Lillian is really sorry for kicking you in the shins. I hope we weren't the only children who got asked not to sit on your lap that day. Maybe next year will be better!
We don't really have a wish list as anything we receive will be played with (fought over) together. Thanks Santa!

Merry Christmas!
Love, Lillian Jane & Olivia Ann

Winter is Here!
The girls found a new perch to sit and wait for the first snowstorm of the year.
In honor of the storm, we let the girls watch "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" (and yes, we skipped over the monster scenes).
Cold outside = Yo Gabba Gabba sweatshirts (we love Ebay).
Daddy went outside to shovel and Olivia yelled and pounded on the window "Daddy, what you do?" (that's him leaning in the white car outside).
Lillian was more interested in saying "DADDY" every time he walked by the windows, like we didn't know he was there (that's him in the street).

Happy Birthday Mommy!
Olivia says, "Happy Day Mommy" (about a million times).
Lillian says nothing, just shows Mommy some ways to relax.
We LOVE You Mommy!

Queens Zoo
Before Thanksgiving madness set in, we decided to drive out to Flushing and check out the Queens Zoo. We have used our family membership for the Brooklyn Aquarium, the Brooklyn Zoo, and the Central Park Zoo, but had yet to make it to Queens or to the Bronx.

The Queens Zoo was perfect - Easy to get to and full of interesting sights and sounds.
The aviary was built for the 1964 World's Fair and now houses some very cool birds.

The barnyard was the favorite (until one of the roosters pecked at Olivia through the fence).
The barnyard sure had us "cracking up"!

Right outside the zoo is a carousel. For their first time, the girls loved it.
Lillian sat by herself with the goofiest grin the entire time and complained when it was over. Olivia needed to sit with Mommy and was hesitant to start but came to love it right when the 4 minutes were almost up.

Of course we needed to have some overpriced vendor food to top off our fun day.
Popcorn and pretzels on a beautiful Fall day in NYC - doesn't get better than that.
Stay tuned...Bronx Zoo here we come.
